Begin your festive getaway with a delightful afternoon tea, served in one of our cozy lounges beside a roaring log fire. The spirit of the season comes alive with a performance by local carol singers in the atmospheric Tudor Hall, lit by candlelight. Savour a warm mulled wine or indulgent hot chocolate as you enjoy your favourite festive melodies. 

Join us for a sophisticated Champagne and Canapé reception, followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner. The evening’s enchantment continues with live music, providing the perfect backdrop for your enjoyment. Midnight Guests are invited to experience the serene beauty of Midnight Mass at St. Mary’s Church, just a short stroll away. Upon your return, there will be comforting warm punch and mince pies ready, before you retire to your bedchamber. 

Christmas Day Festivities. Once father Christmas has delivered gifts, we invite you to begin Christmas morning with a delicious breakfast . At lunch gather around the majestic Christmas trees in the lounges for a Champagne drinks reception, before the main event, an indulgent four-course Christmas lunch, complete with all the festive trimmings. For those feeling adventurous, embark on the castle’s ‘Tudor Quest,’ a captivating treasure hunt to uncover the secret of the lost jewel hidden within the castle grounds. Prefer a more relaxed afternoon? Settle into a cozy armchair by the fire, enjoy a friendly board game, or simply savour the warm ambience. As the day winds down, join us for a pre-dinner festive cocktail, followed by a delightful informal buffet dinner served in the lounges. Enjoy a casual yet elegant feast in the company of fellow guests, with live acoustic entertainment.

Boxing Day Celebrations. Enjoy a relaxing brunch then step into history with exciting Tudor-inspired activities in the castle grounds. Channel your inner royal with a try at axe throwing or longbow archery, experiencing the thrill of these ancient pastimes. Evening Farewell Gala, join us for a celebratory glass of Champagne in the lounge, setting the tone for a spectacular evening. Sit down to a lavish five-course Gala dinner with live music entertainment.

New Year’s Eve, enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the restaurant, taking time to soak up the atmosphere in anticipation of the big celebrations ahead. Step onto the castle lawns for an enchanting falconry display, a tradition once enjoyed by royalty. Witness the majesty of these birds of prey in action, and for those who wish, enjoy the optional handling experience, adding a hands-on element to this regal event. Join us for a glamorous evening dressed in black tie attire, beginning with a Champagne reception and a selection of canapés in the castle lounges. Savour a decadent five-course Gala Dinner, served in the cosy dining areas by candlelight. Move across the courtyard to our impressive Tudor Hall to enjoy post dinner coffee & petit fours. The evening will unfold with a fabulous 4-piece band and a DJ, setting the perfect tone for a celebration to remember. Dance the night away to your favourite tunes. As we count down to 2026, our traditional piper will lead the way outdoors for a breathtaking firework display, lighting up the sky as we welcome 2026 together, in spectacular fashion.

Thornbury castle is located within 30 minutes from Bristol City Centre and Bristol Parkway. While the secluded, peaceful surroundings of Thornbury Castle offer each guest the sense of escaping from the everyday, this belies how easy the castle is to reach from the M4, M5 and Bristol. For guests wishing for a grand entrance, a helipad is available within the castle grounds.
